Course Title

Psychological First Aid for School Professionals

Course Overview
One in five adults suffers from a mental health problem in any given year. However, most people do not know how to help these people. We learn to read the signs of physical problems like a heart attack and how to give first aid until help arrives. However, we do not know how to help a person who is experiencing a panic attack or other mental health crisis.

Students spend the better part of each day in school and you may be the one to first notice the warning signs. You may also be the first person that they share all their worries and concerns including thoughts about self-injury and suicide. Therefore, it is crucial that school professionals know the basics of mental health intervention.

The psychological first aid course will equip you with the knowledge and skills necessary for school professionals to help your students as first responders. Facing a student with distress is not easy, especially when you do not know what to do or how to respond. In this course, you will improve your mental health literacy without a lot of jargon and learn practical skills that will enable you to take action.

This course is designed for school professionals like teachers, principals, guidance counsellors, trainees, coaches and school nurses.

Learn first aid, it can save lives!
